Illegal obstructions cleared in Brgy. 16 SK Office

At least ten illegal structures obstructing the entrance to the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation Office in Barangay 16, Bacolod City, were dismantled Tuesday morning in a coordinated clearing operation led by the City Legal Office Enforcement Unit, according to a press release from the Bacolod City Communications Office.

City Legal Officer Karol Joseph Chiu and executive assistant retired Col. Levy Pangue supervised the removal of the encroachments, which included a makeshift auto repair shop that had been blocking the main access point to the SK office.

The operation began around 8 a.m., following the lapse of a five-day notice issued to the affected occupants. Personnel from the City Engineer’s Office, the Office of the Building Official (OBO), the Bacolod Traffic and Transportation Management Department (BTTMD), and barangay officials assisted in the dismantling.

According to Pangue, the removal of the obstructions proceeded peacefully with the cooperation of those concerned, allowing the city to reopen safe passage to the facility used by local youth and the community.

“This is part of our ongoing effort to ensure public spaces are clear and accessible for everyone,” Pangue said in a press release.

He added that the city plans to work with the BTTMD to address other identified traffic obstructions in the area to improve mobility and safety for residents.

The City Legal Office reiterated its appeal for public cooperation as Bacolod ramps up efforts to reclaim sidewalks, easements, and other public spaces for the benefit of all Bacolodnons.*
