Illegal seal-off investigated

BY CHRYSEE G. SAMILLANO

The president of the Liga ng mga Barangay in Bacolod City is having an investigation conducted on the illegal seal-off incident involving a house in Brgy. Taculing in the city Saturday.

Bacolod Councilor and Taculing Barangay Captain Lady Gles Pallen said they will review the footage taken by the barangay’s CCTV to determine the person or persons responsible for the sealing-off a house in City Heights Subdivision using caution tape Saturday morning when the owners were not in the list of COVID-19 positive patients nor were they even considered close contacts.

Pallen said this is illegal and caused the owners stress and anxiety because they cannot go out. The owners got angry that they were not informed by the barangay.

She said they no longer use yellow caution tape to seal-off houses of COVID-19 positive patients and instead only place a tarpaulin on the gate.

Pallen appealed to the public for their cooperation in this time of pandemic by avoiding acts that would cause trauma or stress, particularly to frontliners.

Meanwhile, Sum-ag Barangay Captain Rodney Carmona and three other members of his family are undergoing quarantine after he was exposed to a COVID-19 positive staff of the barangay.

Carmona said his older sister is now quarantined in a hotel while he, together with his younger sister and his 3-year-old child are home quarantined.

He said that only he tested negative even though he was in close contact with the barangay driver who was positive for COVID-19.

His younger sister has been fully vaccinated while the older one only received her first dose, Carmona added.*
