Mayor Neil Lizares ordered immediate rehabilitation works on a portion of a landslide-hit road in Sitio Tambara in Brgy. San Fernando, Talisay City, that was eroded due to heavy rains in previous days.

To prevent further damage and degradation, Lizares ordered the construction of retaining walls for slope protection in the landslide hit area, as well as repairs on the damaged road section which serves as the only road access of residents in the area.

Lizares thanked the provincial government of Negros Occidental for extending financial support to the rehabilitation work, after personnel were sent for an ocular inspection of the damaged area.

At present, only motorcycles are allowed to enter the landslide affected area, as the road leading to sitios of Magbuyo and Patani have been closed for 4-wheel vehicles in order to avoid accidents.

The Talisay City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office through Executive Assistant Spyxe Gutierrez already submitted its assessment report on damages caused by the landslide to Mayor Lizares.*
