The reelection bid of Eugenio Jose Lacson as governor of Negros Occidental was further bolstered by the endorsement of the bloc voting religious sect, Iglesia Ni Cristo.

Nine reelectionist mayors and a mayoralty aspirant also got the nod of INC.

Lacson yesterday confirmed that he was informed by INC officers that he was endorsed by the highly influential church organization.

“I am very thankful for this support from the INC. Rest assured that this will continue to inspire me to do even better than the past three years,” Lacson, who sent a letter of thanks to Bro. Eduardo Manalo, the INC executive minister, said.

Also earning the endorsement of INC were Toboso mayoralty aspirant Madonnah Jaojoco, Mayor Mark Golez – Silay City, Mayor Marvin Malacon – EB Magalona, Mayor Irene Montilla – Isabela, Mayor Rhumyla Nicor Mangillimutan – La Castellana, Mayor Alejandro Mirasol – Binalbagan, Mayor Melecio Yap Jr. – Escalante City, Mayor Neil Lizares III – Talisay City, Mayor Rex Jalandoon – La Carlota City and Mayor Raymund Tongson – Himamaylan City.

Those who got the endorsement of INC have been usually been called, Lacson said “I believe many others has already been called,” he added.

However, it was not determined yet, as of this time, whom the INC will support in the Bacolod City mayoralty race between incumbent Mayor Evelio Leonardia and challenger former Rep. Alfredo Benitez.

Lacson called on Negrenses to “go out and vote” on May 9.

“We hope that it will be a peaceful and orderly election.”

“After voting, go home and wait for the results,” added Lacson as he called on all candidates to “respect the decision of the Filipino people.” “

This is the only survey that matters,” he stressed.*
