A police non-commissioned officer, who was injured in the line of duty during a buy bust operation on September 11, was honored by the Police Regional Office – Negros Island Region, for his unwavering bravery.
PBrig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, PRO-NIR regional director, awarded on Sunday the Medalya ng Papuri to PSSg Mark Loui Soriba of the Bacolod City Police Office Station 7, at the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center in Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod City.
Soriba was seriously injured during a buy-bust at Pana-ad Access Road, Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City, on Sept. 11, when a black sedan collided with a tricycle involved in the operation.
PCpl Cubon and the arrested drug suspect also suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.
Police investigations showed that the driver of the sedan had no connection to the arrested drug personality.
Charges for Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Physical Injuries and Damage to Property have been filed against the driver, who has already posted bail.
Despite encountering life-threatening circumstances in the course of police operations, the police officer remained steadfast and unwavering in the performance of his duty, regional police spokesperson, PLt. Col. Joem Malong said.
The arrest of the drug suspect identified by the police as alias Joefer, yielded about P136,000 worth of suspected shabu.*
