A Medalya ng Kadakilaan or PNP Heroism Medal was awarded to the chief of the Iloilo City Intelligence Unit for apprehending eight personalities reportedly involved in the illegal drug trade and other crimes.
PLt. Col. Antion Benitez, also a member of the Iloilo City Drugs Enforcement Unit, was commended for the conduct of hot pursuit operation against Rene John Inesoria and seven others at Brgy. Zamora, Melliza, Iloilo City.
Inesoria was nabbed for the crimes of murder, resisting arrest, obstruction of justice, illegal drugs, and firearms, which resulted in the recovery of 21 pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated value of more than 600 thousand pesos.
Also seized were two units .45 caliber pistol, six ammunition, and one grenade.
The award was given to Benitez by PBrig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor, Regional Director, during the flag-raising ceremony, on July 21, at Camp Gen Martin Teoflo B. Delgado, Fort San Pedro, Iloilo City.* YCC/N&CA
