The Negros Occidental Provincial Government thru the Provincial Sports Office resumed the postponed Governor’s Cup Inter-District 3X3 Basketball Festival in the municipalities of Hinigaran and Hinoba-an on November 5, Saturday.
The tournament’s Districts V and VI playoffs were held simultaneously, with games starting at 1 pm. For the District V matches, the participating LGU teams were La Castellana, Hinigaran, Himamaylan City, and Binalbagan.
For the 16-under category in the fifth district elimination, Binalbagan emerged as the top team, qualifying for the semis and the finals next weekend in Talisay City. In second place was the city of Himamaylan.
As for the 19-under category, the municipality of La Castellana was victorious against the other three LGU teams. Hinigaran, the host venue, landed second.
Apart from the District V playoff, the sixth district eliminations also resumed in the municipality of Hinoba-an on Saturday. The sixth district included the participation of the municipalities of Hinoba-an and Candoni and the cities of Sipalay and Kabankalan.
In the 16-under category, Candoni bagged the top spot, while Kabankalan City landed in second place. For the 19-under category, Kabankalan City ranked first followed by Sipalay City as the second team to qualify for the finals.
The top two winning teams in the 16-under and 19-under categories of the District V and VI eliminations will proceed to the semi-final and final matches on Nov. 13, Sunday at the city of Talisay. Games will start at 9 a.m.*
