The cities of La Carlota and Silay were hailed as champions in the 16-under and 19-under categories, respectively.
Organized by the Negros Occidental Provincial Government thru the Provincial Sports Office (PSO), the 3X3 basketball tournament paved the way for potential young athletes in the province to develop and foster their talents and abilities in basketball.
La Carlota City bagged the championship title in the 16-under category. Talisay City landed in second place and San Carlos City ranked third.
The Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the 16-under category went to Steve Anton Yanson of the La Carlota City team.
In the 19-under category, Silay City emerged as the champion, while Pulupandan ranked second and Victorias took third place. Jule Garcia of Silay City was the 19-under most valuable player.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and PSO head Anthony Carlo Agustin awarded the cash prizes to the winning teams and the most valuable players.
The champions received P5,000 in cash, while the second and third placers got P3,500 and P2,500, respectively. The most valuable players received P1,000 each.
Also in attendance was Talisay City Sports Consultant, Marvin Tan.
In his closing remarks, Lacson explained that the tournament could provide opportunities for Negrense youth to harness their skills in sports, especially basketball.
The governor also reminded the players and the participating teams of the importance of camaraderie, saying the competition was just a game and they were all friends outside the boundaries of the basketball court.*
