
Beejay Paredes scored 10 points and grabbed the player of the game honors to continue their streak as the Fil-Sino 1st Accelera Basketball Cup continued, when Iota-ST68 won over the Alpha, 73-68.
Alpha started strong in the 1st quarter, with Carlo Chu scoring 18 points to take the lead, 22-18. It was a nip and tuck affair in the second, however, Iota didn’t waste time unleashing their supremacy in the third as they became suffocating on defense and highly efficient on offense, putting them up, 52-47, going into the final frame. They stayed in control in the final ten minutes to acquire the win in a convincing fashion.
The other game, between Ultra 5 and Omikron, saw the latter jump out to a strong start and lead after one quarter, 17-13. The Ultra brought a better effort in the second and managed to take an eleven point lead by halftime.
Both sides were rolling in the third, as the Omikron outscored the Ultra, 17-10 to cut the deficit to just four points entering the final frame. Ultra kept the lead for most of the fourth, taking control down the stretch to close out another win with the final score at 80-73.
Matt Deles led Ultra 5 with 23 points and player of the game honors. Doc Emil Guanzon followed up with 15 points while Yanyan Dy tallied 12 points. Meanwhile, Ronald Delada led the Omikron AT with 18 points, DK Equipaje recorded 15, while Edward Baniel added 14 points.*
