The IPM-Construction Development Corp. was recently declared by the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) as winner of the bidding held for the environment and sanitary services of Bacolod City, amounting to P256 million.
BAC opened the bids on April 5 for the hauling, collection, and disposal of garbage, and for the management, maintenance, and operation of the sanitary landfill in Barangay Felisa, covering the period from May 1 to December 31.
BAC chairman Maphilindo Polvora said IPM-CDC was the lone participant in the bidding. Its previous contract for extension will lapse on April 30.
Horace Yap, consultant of IPM-CDC, said the garbage contractor’s bid price for the 8-month contract for the collection, hauling and disposal of garbage is P191,978,632.86, and P63,984,258.33 for the management, operation and maintenance of sanitary landfill.
Despite having won the bidding, IPM-CDC is still processing all the documents needed in compliance with the Procurement Act and this includes the signing of the contracts that will need ratification from the City Council, he said.
Yap said that in 2016, the daily average garbage collection in Bacolod was 1,016.92 cubic meters, compared to this year that reached 1,436.13 cubic meters per day. He also said they will meet with the barangay officials next week to listen to them and to present a new system to further improve the collection of garbage in Bacolod City.*
