The treasurer of the Isabela municipal government in Negros Occidental, is now being investigated by the police, for the missing cash and checks under her custody.
Nenette Escarda, the Isabela municipal treasurer, reported to the police that she discovered several checks and undetermined amount of cash were missing at her residence at Doña Juliana Las Palmas in Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod City, on January 21.
The missing cash and checks are reported to have an estimated value of P3 million.
Investigations of the Police Station 6 showed that Escarda brought the cash and checks to her residence, to be deposited in a bank.
The provincial government of Negros Occidental is set to appoint a new treasurer for Isabela town, pending investigation of the incident, Mayor Irene Montilla said.
Montilla said she is leaving the investigation of the missing cash and checks for the provincial government.*
