The Israeli government on Thursday assured support for the siblings and family of Negrense caregiver Loreta Alacre, of Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, who was killed in hostilities during the Israel – Hamas war, on October 7.
Israel Ambassador to the Philippines, Ilan Fluss, in his letter to the Alacre family, which was handed over by Consul Moti Cohen, who visited the wake and expressed his government’s deepest sympathy to the siblings of Loreta, said “you are now joining a big Israeli family of victims of terror.”
“Joining this family entitles you with financial and other assistance care of the Government of Israel, in the same way they support the other bereaved Israeli families,” Fluss said.
The Israeli ambassador further said their embassy in Manila will assist the Alacre family in claiming benefits from the Israel Social Security Institute.
The Israeli diplomat was assisted by Rizza Moldes, officer in charge of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration – Western Visayas, during his meeting with the Alacre family in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.
Loreta had been working as a caregiver in Haifa and Tel Aviv, Israel, for 15 years.
She is slated to be buried on November 5 at a public cemetery in Brgy. Caduha-an, Cadiz City.
The Department of Foreign Affairs yesterday said that the fourth batch of Filipino repatriates from battle-weary Israel is set to arrive before October ends.
Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega, however did not disclose other details on the repatriation of these Filipinos, but he earlier told reporters that there may be at least 20 individuals comprising this batch.
It was not been determined if there are any Negrenses among the fourth batch of Filipino repatriates.*
