Japanese Rotarians donate medical equipment to Murcia

Members of the Rotary Clubs of Kyoto-Fushimi, Bacolod-Marapara and Silay with Murcia vice-mayor Johnny Reosura and Leah Tinsay, president of TriCastle International Inc.*

Members of the Rotary Club of Kyoto-Fushimi in Japan returned to Negros Occidental this week to announce they have secured the funding to buy medical equipment for the benefit of the people of Murcia.

The project’s funding, through a Rotary Global Grant, will be used to provide much-needed equipment including an ultrasound machine, delivery table, and incubator.

According to a press release, the equipment will be of particular help to mothers and their babies. There is a need for improved prenatal diagnostic capabilities in the municipality and the ultrasound machine will be able to diagnose abnormalities in pregnancies and other life-threatening conditions.

The incubator will provide a controlled environment for premature or sick babies to grow and develop. The equipment will be housed in the Municipal Medical Clinic in Murcia.

At a reception at the Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club, Murcia vice-mayor, Johnny Reosura, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Japanese Rotarians for choosing Murcia as the recipient of the funding.

A Rotary Global Grant exemplifies what a project should be: a sustainable endeavor that aligns with one of Rotary’s areas of focus and that is designed in cooperation with the community to address a real need.

The Kyoto Rotarians were accompanied by Leah Tinsay, president of TriCastle International Inc., and members of the Rotary Clubs of Silay and Bacolod-Marapara.*
