In a crossover between politics and fashion, Negros Occidental Third District Representative Javier Miguel Benitez was a guest model for the Telahistoria by Llamanzares barong fashion show at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City.
Benitez showcased a meticulously crafted barong from the Llamanzares collection in “Telahistoria: The Runway Story of Filipino Fabrics,” aimed to highlight the intricate artistry of local designers and support weavers from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
“I’m grateful to have been part of such a meaningful event celebrating Philippine artistry, textiles, and fabric,” Benitez said in a social media post.
Llamanzares Barongs is a Filipino menswear brand that specializes in elegant barong shirts and is dedicated to showcasing the traditional needlepoint artistry of Lumban’s skilled artisans.
“Let us continue to support the industry that weaves our rich Philippine culture into every thread of our national identity and history,” Benitez added.
Benitez, a neophyte Congressman, was recently appointed as Assistant Majority Leader and Chairperson of the Special Committee on Creative Industries in the 20th Congress.*
