While he thanked Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez for his endorsement, Victorias City Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez clarified that he will be the one to make the announcement on whether or not he will seek the 3rd district congressional post of Negros Occidental.
I want to emphasize that any decision regarding my candidacy will be made in close consultation with my team and, most importantly, with the Victoriasanon people, the younger Benitez said.
No one else will make this announcement on my behalf, he stressed, adding that “we will approach this matter with careful consideration and the respect it deserves.”
Former Negros Occidental 3rd district Rep. Jose Francisco assumed his new post on Monday as the Director General of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), following his appointment by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The caretaker of the 3rd district of Negros Occidental is yet to be determined, as of this time.
Mayor Javi said he is deeply grateful for the strong endorsement of his father, Mayor Albee, which the former described as an “honor.”
As we all know, Mayor Albee is an accomplished public official who has significantly contributed to the progress of the third district during his time in office, he added.
“For a young person like myself, the best course of action is to listen and learn from the successes and challenges of those who have come before us in public service,” he said, stressing that “this wisdom is invaluable in our efforts to build a better future for the next generation.”*
