
The first game of the Fil-Sino 1st Bacolod Truckers Basketball Cup, Class B category, between Jumbo and GoodYear Tires was a tight battle. The latter looked better early on, taking a 25-24 lead in the first quarter. However, the former recovered in the second quarter and were able to take a 3 point lead break.
The Jumbos then displayed a different attitude in the third quarter, increasing their lead to six points, 65-59. They kept the momentum going in the final quarter and iced the close game that ended with a final score of 85-81.
Raffy Canizares led the way for Jumbo with 15 points and grabbed the player of the game honors. Mickey Bernabe delivered 14 points, and JD Javelosa tallied 10 points. James Garrucho paced GoodYear Tires with 23 points, Tata Javillo posted 20, and Ronald Delada added 10 points.
In the other game, Superway defeated Gold Partner Truck, 104-93. The Gold started glittering and outshone the former in the 1st quarter that ended at 28-19. Superway turned up the heat and melted the Gold to build a double digit deficit, 57-45 going into the break.
The Golds’ performance stayed solid as they kept control through the third and managed to cut the deficit to just 1 point as the game went into the final ten minutes. However, when it mattered most, they went cold, while the Superway rendered a balanced effort on both ends during the final quarter and sped their way to victory.
Oda Tampus grabbed the player of the game honors with 17 points, while Jeremy Coo and Nike Montalvo added with 16 points apiece. Michael Deocadiz led Gold Partner Truck with 17 points, while Miguel Mosquera totaled 16 points and Jason Aguilos tallied 10 points.*
