The Emergency Room and Outpatient Department of the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City will reopen today and the rest of the hospital on Monday, Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said yesterday.

The hospital was closed on September 30 after a nurse tested positive for COVID-19 to enable tests to be conducted on her co-workers who came in contact with her and to disinfect the facility.

Diaz said he was informed that three other staff member of the hospital – an emergency room nurse, a clerk and a dietician – have also tested positive for COVID-19.

The clerk and the dietician may have been infected outside the hospital since they had minimal contact with the first nurse who tested positive, he said. They were set to be transferred to the Cadiz District Hospital in Cadiz City yesterday, Diaz added.

Meanwhile, Bacolod City had six new COVID-19 cases yesterday. while Negros Occidental had 27, the Department of Health reported.

Bacolod City has a total of 4,272 COVID-19 cases, 3,332 recoveries and 95 deaths, the DOH added.

Negros Occidental has 3,345 COVID-19 cases, 2,111 recoveries and 58 deaths, it said.*
