Three laborers died during a vehicular crash on Saturday evening at Crossing Cabanyohan in Barangay Tampalon, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, police said.
Initial investigations of the Kabankalan City police indicated that the motorcycle driven by Rico Ian Samanero with two backriders, identified as Robin Causapin and Jomel Hamaybay, figured in a head-on collision with a cargo truck driven by Gerardo Makilan III.
Police investigations further indicated that the victims were reported to have been under the influence of liquor.
As a result of the collision, Samanero, 26, and Hamaybay, 21, were both declared dead on arrival at the Kabankalan City Hospital, where Causapin, 19, died while undergoing treatment.
According to the Kabankalan police, the vehicular crash took place while the victims, who were on a motorcycle traversing a downhill section of the road, while the Isuzu Giga truck driven by Makilan, also traversing uphill in the opposite direction.
Makilan is now under the custody of the Kabankalan City Police Station, pending further investigation of the road crash.*
