A barangay kagawad has cheated death after surviving an attempt on his life on April 30 in Bgry. Laga-an, Calatrava, Negros Occidental.
Initial police investigations show that the victim, identified by the police as Laga-an barangay kagawad Nelson Panogan, was on his way home on board his driven Mitsubishi Pajero when he was allegedly ambushed by still unidentified gunmen.
Panogan managed to flee while his driven vehicle had bullet holes in the lower portion of the driver’s side door and front wheels.
Recovered from the crime scene were six fired cartridges and a deformed slug believed to be from a 9mm automatic pistol.
Personal grudges are among the angles being looked into by police probers looking into the attempt to kill the barangay kagawad.*
