Six teams from all over the country are participating in the 2nd AIA Vitality Kampeon Cup, which kicked off yesterday at the La Provincia Polo Field in Brgy. Granada, Bacolod City.

The best seven-a-side selection squads from Manila, Pampanga, Cebu, Iloilo and Bacolod will be competing for the right to be called national champion, organizers said.

AIA Vitality seeks to bring the best football players all over the country in a festival-type atmosphere where there are games for kids, a tournament for the youth, women’s and men’s, with the Kampeon Cup in between, disclosed its founder, former national player Anton del Rosario.

The inaugural AIA Vitality Kampeon Cup was held in 2019, where teams from Cebu, Bacolod and Davao flew over to Manila for the tournament. Cebu is the defending champion.

We are happy the league has continued to make strides in the local football scene by expanding its scope from Pampanga, Manila and Palawan, all the way to Cebu, Iloilo and Bacolod, giving even more Filipinos a chance to showcase their skills on a nationwide scale, according to Kats Cajucom, who is the head of AIA Philippines Health and Wellness.

The goal for del Rosario and his co-organizers is for the Kampeon Cup to get bigger and bigger as the years go on.

Cajucom said “We are excited for Kampeon’s kick off in Bacolod, and look forward to helping Filipinos young and old alike live healthier, longer, better lives through our continued support of football.”

The three-day football tournament will end on Oct. 16, when winners of Groups A and B will go for the championship.

Del Rosario also announced that they are preparing big things for next year. “It will be the first international Asia seven-a-side tournament, somewhat comparable to the AFC”, he said.

That they will be flying in teams from Japan, India, Brunei, similar to what we have did here, del Rosario further said.

He also said that they have partners in those countries with similar leagues.

The best athletes in the Kampeon Cup will represent the country in the international competition, del Rosario added.*
