Kanlaon Volcano emitted ash again on Wednesday.
The weak ash emission lasted six minutes, according to Mari Andylene Quintia, resident volcanologist at the Kanlaon Observatory, said.
The latest emission generated grayish plumes reaching 500 meters above the crater, and drifted southwest, Quintia said.
State seismologists said they recorded six volcanic earthquakes around Kanlaon.
Entry into the volcano’s four-kilometer-radius danger zone remains prohibited, under Alert Level 2.
As Tropical Storm Basyang approaches Negros Island, Quintia also alerted communities at the foot of Kanlaon Volcano.*
