The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has reported the occurrence of a 30-minute ash emission on Sunday at Kanlaon Volcano, while a magnitude 2 earthquake hit Murcia, Negros Occidental.

PHIVOLCS logged an ash emission at the summit crater of Kanlaon Volcano from 6:47 a.m. to 7:17 a.m. on Sunday.

The grayish plumes rose around 300 meters above the crater and drifted southeast, based on monitoring from the Kanlaon Volcano Observatory – Canlaon City (KVO-CC) IP camera.

PHIVOLCS reminded the public that Alert Level 2 remains in effect over Kanlaon Volcano.

PHIVOLCS also reported a magnitude 2 tremor in Murcia and a magnitude 2.4 quake in La Carlota City, also on Sunday. The origin of the quakes were reported as tectonic.
