A 30-minute ash emission from Kanlaon Volcano was recorded on September 10, which generated a grayish plume up to 600 meters above the crater, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
It was the second time that the Kanlaon Volcano spewed grayish ash since Sept. 8.
Alert Level 2 still prevails over Kanlaon Volcano, disclosed Ptolemy Manego, Science Research Assistant stationed at PHIVOLCS Kanlaon Volcano Observatory.
Entry to the four-kilometer permanent danger zone is strictly prohibited by PHIVOLCS.
Despite two ash emission events, Manego said they have not recorded any seismic activity.
He added that some PHIVOLCS personnel were dispatched yesterday to the areas of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto, where ash emissions drifted towards, to check for ash fall.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) for flights near Kanlaon Volcano, with vertical limits from the surface to 10,000 feet.
The latest NOTAM took effect yesterday, until Thursday (Sept. 11).
CAAP advised flight operators to avoid flying close to the volcano, due to possible hazards of sudden explosive eruption and ashfall.*
