Twelve college students showcased their artistry in the art of make-up, making their vision come to life using different tools in their kit in an event called “Kara 2022” on July 7.
The event was held in collaboration with the Institute of the Moving Image (IMI) Lasalle, Bacolod Workshops (BW), University of Saint La Salle (USLS), and SM City Bacolod which served as a culminating activity for the students under the mentorship of the makeup guru of Bacolod, Carlos Durana.
Durana explained that Kara 2022 showcased that make-up is more than just making one beautiful it can be artistic, giving recognition to prosthetics, fantasy make-up, and the classic bridal look.
Models strutted the runway donning prosthetics making them a figure out of the make-up artists’ imagination.
The make-up artists showed various skills from wild prosthetics to virginal brides. Among those who participated in were Aubrey Mae Villanueva, Fred Ashly Donguez, Lovelyn Grace Reyes, Abiel Semillano, Noella Canete, Yobelle Martir, Louie Hundrana, Karen Joy Lipat, Riquebelle Manzo, Rob Chrysler Vaflor, Steve Louise Rotelo, and Adia Beatrice Manzo.
“We want to inspire other makeup artists to pursue their talents,” Durana added, hoping this event would give inspiration to aspiring makeup artists to explore their talents.
