Hinoba-an Resort Owners Association (Hirowa) president Phoebe Garlitos-David, in collaboration with Hinoba-an local government led by Mayor Daph Anthony Reliquias, through MENRO officer-in-charge Jimmy Cambarijan, and Tourism Officer-designate Oscar Tilos, Brazaville Beach Resort, and other government agencies initiated the first “Sunset Kayak for a Cause” at Kantinable Beach Resort in the municipality of Hinoba-an on May 27.

The event incorporated mangrove planting, kayaking, and snorkeling activities, and was held for the preservation of Marine Protected Areas (MPA) in Barangay Bulwangan, Hinobaan

David, CEO of Brazaville Beach Resort, said the event was planned to promote environmental awareness among tourist-guests to take part in environmentalism through planting mangroves at the same time and simultaneously highlighting the stunning scenery of the Hinoba-an mangroves.

As posted in Hinoba-an Mayor Daph Reliquias social media account “The endeavor was met with overflowing success as foreign nationals from the Czech Republic graced the event with their support and participation. The tricycle ride that these guests took from Brgy. Pook to Brgy. Bulwangan made their tour even more immersive as they got to experience the local transportation and perform some sightseeing along the tourist barangay communities on the way to their destination.”

Prior to the activity, Tilos and Cambarijan gave a crash course on Hinoba-an’s Municipal profile and coastal resources involving MPA’s and mangroves.*
