The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod City led by Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran urged all Bacolodnons to observe health and safety precautions during the Holy Week.
The resolution, unanimously approved by the Sanggunian, said the Holy Week is a significant religious occasion for Filipinos, and many Bacolodnons traditionally conduct “Visita Iglesia,” hold processions, and on Easter Sunday, visit beaches, parks, and other outdoor destinations.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has forecasted a high heat index in our area during the Holy Week, which may pose health risks to individuals, especially those engaging in outdoor activities, it said.
It is the duty of the local government to ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens, particularly during significant events and celebrations, the resolution said.
It also recommended safety measures for the public to observe.
The resolution was approved upon motion of Councilor Em Ang, jointly seconded by Councilors Israel Salanga, Simplicia Distrito and Celia Matea Flor.*
