Killing of 3 civilians drug-related – Gustilo

BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

The recent killing of three civilians in Brgy. Palampas, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, was declared by the police to have been drug-related, disclosed Mayor Renato Gustiloyesterday.

PLt. Roby Aurita, deputy police chief of San Carlos City, said that some of the victims were included in their drug watch list. He however did not identify those victims.

Gustilo said the police has yet to establish leads as to the suspects behind the incident. But he added that the police suspect that a certain alias “Irak” failed to remit his earnings from illegal drug trade.

As to reports of mistaken identity and the target was not riding in the ambushed vehicle, Gustilo said he is not aware of it.

While they have already talked to the injured survivor, Aurita said the information they got from him is still limited.

On the entry of illegal drugs to San Carlos City, Gustilo said that majority of supply of illegal drugs came from Mindanao, which is smuggled through the port of Dumaguete City, based on the report of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

The transported drugs are being brought to San Carlos City from Dumaguete Port where the security is lax, he claimed.

The illegal drugs from Cebu are also being transported through the numerous entry points in San Carlos City, as suppliers avoid usingthe San Carlos City port due to tight security, he added.*
