La Carlota City, Candoni lead inter-LGU tourneys

The city of La Carlota and the municipality of Candoni took the lead as the top LGUs in basketball and boxing, respectively. La Carlota City was undefeated in the Governor’s Cup Inter-LGU 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament in the 14-under and 17-under categories.

Candoni, on the other hand, recorded five wins with no losses in boxing. The categories included 16-under and 13-under age groups (boys and girls).

The Provincial Sports Office (PSO) and Abanse Negrense recently held simultaneous Inter-LGU tournaments in basketball and boxing. The basketball game took place in Brgy. Ma-ao, Bago City, and the Abanse Negrense Boxing at the Park continued its eliminations in Silay City on Sept. 24.

The Governor’s Cup Inter-LGU 3-on-3 Basketball tournament continued with the South Bracket A eliminations at the covered court of Brgy. Ma-ao in Bago City. Participating LGUs from the South included Bago City, Pulupandan, Valladolid, Pontevedra, La Carlota City and La Castellana.

In both the 14-under and 17-under categories, La Carlota City took first place for the team with the most wins. Bago City, on the other hand, placed second in the 17-under age group, and Valladolid was in second place for the 14-under category. The top two winning teams in both categories advance to the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, the municipality of Candoni proved to be the home of the best boxers, as they recorded five victories with no defeats. Meanwhile, Murcia, Escalante City, Silay City, Hinigaran, and La Castellana were also competitive opponents.

The Abanse Negrense Boxing at the Park eliminations was composed of 14 bouts. The categories were 13-under and 16-under age groups. Aspiring male and female boxers participated in the event.

PSO head Anthony Carlo Agustin attended the tournaments which were made possible through the supervision of SBP (Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas) referees, PSO Tournament Director Coach Arvin Custer Gustilo (Basketball), PSO Technical Committee Head Coach Benny Lachica (Basketball), and Boxing Provincial Sports Coordinator Aden Nietes.*
