La Carlota hospital, SP reopen: Diaz

The Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial District Hospital (DSBMDH )in La Carlota City and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan offices at the Capitol in Bacolod City resumed operations yesterday, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said yesterday.

The DSBMDH was placed on partial lockdown for disinfection on August 3 after one of its doctors tested positive for COVID-19, while the SP offices were closed after a technical assistant of a board member was also hit by the virus.

The hospital resumed operations yesterday after a thorough disinfection, except for its outpatient department, since most of its staff are still in isolation and home quarantined,DSBMDHacting chief, Dr. Miguelito Aquino, said in a letter to Diaz.

Diaz also said that all the close contacts of the technical assistant at the SP, which has been disinfected, tested negative for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 cases in Negros Occidental remain on an upward trend with 37 new cases , including a 1-year-old boy from Isabela town, the Department of Health 6 reported yesterday.

However, there are also seven recoveries from the disease in Negros Occidental, with three in Bago City, one each in cities of Escalante and Victorias and Manapla, the DOH Region 6 report added.

Four new cases were also reported in Bacolod City.

The 41 new cases in Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City, are part of the 93 new cases all over Western Visayas.

Of the 37 new cases in Negros Occidental, Silay City registered five, four each in the cities of Cadiz, Kabankalan and Victorias, as well as Isabela, three each in Himamaylan City and Binalbagan, two each in Sagay City, Hinigaran, and Pulupandan, as well one each in Bago City, Ilog and Valladolid.

At the Queen of Mercy Hospital in Bacolod City a COVID-19 frontliner has recovered and was discharged Wednesday, its medical director Dr. John Alejano said.

Two COVID-19 patients at the hospital also recovered and were discharged during the weekend, he added.*
