The City Government of La Carlota is set to receive two prestigious awards at the upcoming Nation Builders and MOSLIV Awards ceremony, scheduled at Okada Manila in Parañaque City on November 7.
Mayor Jose Luis Jalandoni will be honored as the “Local Chief Executive of the Year,” recognizing his leadership and governance excellence.
He was the only executive in Negros Occidental to receive the accolade. Joining him as awardees are the mayors of Zamboanga City, Pasay City, as well as municipal leaders from San Benito in Surigao del Norte, Tampakan in South Cotabato, and Tagbina in Surigao del Sur.
Moreover, the La Carlota Drumbeaters will be recognized as the sole awardee under Arts, Music, and Culture – Excellence in Sustainability, highlighting the city’s cultural heritage and identity.
City Tourism Officer Karen Aguirre emphasized that the award signifies more than recognition; it affirms La Carlota’s cultural identity and its dedication to preserving and developing its heritage sustainably and with a future-forward mindset.
She noted that the Pasalamat Festival Drumbeaters embody not just musical performance but also tradition, legacy, and generations of rhythm passed down through time.
“This award helps preserve the city’s cultural identity by validating the Drumbeaters as cultural bearers. They are more than performers; they are custodians of our traditions,” she stated, reflecting on the city’s rich cultural background.
The city hopes to inspire the youth to see drumbeat as a valued tradition worth respecting and continuing.
The Nation Builders and MOSLIV Awards are annual events organized by Sustainability Standards, Inc., aimed at honoring individuals and organizations in the Philippines for their significant contributions to nation-building and sustainability.*
