A 44-year-old laborer was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen on Sunday evening in Sitio Old Manghanoy, Barangay Manghanoy, La Castellana.
Initial police investigations conducted by the La Castellana Municipal Police Station revealed that several unidentified suspects emerged from a nearby sugarcane plantation and approached the victim, who was with his cousin at a small fishpond.
According to reports, the suspects fired multiple shots at the victim using an undetermined caliber of firearm. The victim sustained gunshot wounds to various parts of his body.
After the attack, the assailants allegedly shouted in the vernacular, “Dugay ka na namon ginpangita (We have been looking for you for a long time)”, before fleeing in an unknown direction.
The victim was immediately transported to the Rural Health Unit (RHU) for medical treatment but was pronounced dead from his injuries.
The La Castellana Municipal Police Station has launched a pursuit operation to locate and apprehend the suspects. Investigators are continuing to gather information and evidence to identify the perpetrators and determine the possible motive behind the killing.*
