A 42-year-old laborer has added to the list of Commission on Elections gun ban violators, following his apprehension yesterday at a police checkpoint along the national highway of Brgy. 9, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
Initial police investigation showed that the suspect was a passenger on a motorcycle that tried to evade policemen who were manning a checkpoint.
While trying to flee, the motorcycle he was on accidentally slid on the road.
As the police were extending help to them, a .357 caliber revolver with six ammunition was recovered from the possession of the laborer, whose identity is being withheld by the police.
The arrested suspect is now detained at the custodial facility of the Kabankalan City Police Station.*
