BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday congratulated President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio on their victory on the May 9 polls, after being proclaimed by Congress.

Lacson supported the presidential bid of Vice President Leni Robredo during the May 9 elections.

“The Filipino people have spoken,” Lacson said, stressing also that “our next president and vice president were supported by majority of the electorate,” which he considers a remarkable feat in the Philippines’ presidential elections history.

Based on unofficial tally by the Commission on Elections, Marcos won via landslide after garnering more than 31 million votes, while Robredo garnered 14.81 million votes in the presidential race.

With this resounding mandate, I send my warmest congratulations to President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio on their victory and my best wishes for their success, Lacson said.

As they prepare to take on the responsibilities and challenges of the top two highest offices in the country, I call on my fellow elected officials to support our national government by ensuring good governance in our respective local government units, he added.*
