The discussion to harmonize travel protocols between the highly-urbanized Bacolod City and provincial government of Negros Occidental was welcomed yesterday by Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, who invited Mayor Evelio Leonardia for a virtual meeting at 3 p.m. on January 28.
Lacson said that the consultation meeting on Friday will also be attended by all local chief executives of Negros Occidental.
Leonardia pushed for requiring negative antigen testing results for inbound Bacolod passengers in lieu of RT-PCR testing requirements.
After consulting the Provincial Incident Management Team and representatives from the medical sector, Lacson said it was recommended that the province should continue with the requirementof negative RT-PCR test results from Alert Level 3 area travelers.
But Lacson said they will take into consideration the letter of Mayor Leonardia.
Both Iloilo and Bacolod City governments earlier waived the negative RT-PCR test results for inbound travelers from any local government units of Western Visayas and Negros Oriental, which are under Alert Level 3.
After the meeting on Friday, it is expected that both Lacson and Leonardia will come up with a consensus to harmonize their respective travel guidelines.*
