After the establishment of the Regional Development Council – Negros Island Region (RDC-NIR), Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, together with department heads and mayors are set to convene for a regional organizational meeting in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, today.
According to Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz II, Lacson prepared his agenda regarding the economic, health, and other pressing problems that the province is facing, to be brought up in the council meeting.
Diaz cited that among the agendas were the establishment and improvement of the hospitals in the province that are in need of attention.
The election of heads and committees that will lead RDC-NIR is expected to happen during the meeting. However, he also clarified that the governor is not interested in running for the chairmanship of the council.
“I don’t think that the Governor is running for the RDC chairmanship because he is already the chairman of the regional peace and order council, so somebody else has to lead RDC,” he emphasized.
On April 10, Lacson received his appointment papers issued by the Office of the President as the chairperson of the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) of the Negros Island Region (NIR).
The RDC-NIR organizational meeting aims to discuss the establishment of regional offices and other development agendas for NIR.*
