Lacson swears P190K assistance for deceased OFW

• RICHARD T. CABALLERO JR.

Following the arrival of the remains of Leah Mosquera, a Negrosanon overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who was killed in the ongoing war between Hamas and Israel, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson promised yesterday that the province will provide financial assistance to the bereaved family amounting to P190,000.

“I promise to the family that once ready, we will be forwarding them the financial assistance,” said Lacson.

Lacson, together with Department of Migrant Workers NIR Director Glenda Aligonza, OWWA Region 6 Director James Mendiola, and Provincial Public Employment Service Office Head Karen Dinsay, was among those who comforted the grieving family as the remains of Mosquera arrived at Bacolod-Silay Airport yesterday morning.

“We were there to pay our last respects to Ms. Leah. She is an OFW and sacrificed her time away from home only to bring a better living for her family, and at the same time we also know that OFWs are the biggest contributor to our economy,” Lacson added.

Moreover, Mayor Jilson Tubillara of San Enrique, where Mosquera was a resident, said that the municipality is open to catering to the needs of the bereaved family and will also give them additional financial help.

Mosquera, a 49 year-old caregiver, lost her life after a missile attack that hit Rehovot City, Israel, where she had been working for years.*
