Police probers are looking into land dispute as the motive in the killing of a 65-year-old farmer in Sitio Hinagupitan, Brgy. Dian-ay, Escalante City, Negros Occidental, Tuesday.

The victim, identified as Warlito Pabuaya, 65, sustained a gunshot wound and died on the spot, the Escalante City police said.

Investigations of the Escalante City police showed that Pabuaya was shot by a still unidentified gunman while he and his wife were preparing for dinner.

An empty shell of a 12 gauge shotgun was recovered by the police at the crime scene.

Maj. Gil John Despi, Escalante City police chief, said that they are still trying to establish the identity of the gunman although they have raised the possibility that the incident may have been triggered by a land dispute.*
