The late Negros Oriental Gov. Carlo Joan “Guido” Reyes was laid to rest in his hometown in Guihulngan City on June 10, barely three months after his predecessor, former Gov. Roel Degamo, was also buried on March 16.
Negros Oriental had gone through three governors within six months of this year, following the passing of Degamo and then his successor, Reyes.
Former Vice Gov. Manuel “Chaco” Sagarbarria is the new governor of Negros Oriental.
We offer our prayers to the deceased and those who are left behind that they may find comfort and peace, Sagarbarria, who joined the burial of Gov. Reyes, said in a statement issued by the Negros Oriental provincial government.
Jaime “Jake” Reyes, the number one board member of Negros Oriental, recently took his oath as the new Vice Governor of Negros Oriental after Sagarbarria assumed the position as governor.
On the other hand, Sagarbarria issued an executive order which directed all department heads and all other employees to return to their respective mother units and assume their original posts.
An order mandating the reassignment of employees in Negros Oriental to their original posts represents a significant step toward optimizing workforce distribution and enhancing departmental efficiency, a statement from the provincial government said.
By aligning employees with their areas of expertise, the provincial government is aiming to improve service delivery and strengthen coordination among various departments. As the reassignment process unfolds, careful planning and support will be crucial to address any challenges and ensure a seamless transition, the statement said.
Moreover, the reassignment is anticipated to bolster morale among employees who may have felt disconnected from their original units due to the transfers, it added.*
