After two successful runs, the UNO-R School of Law Clinical Legal Education Program (CLEP) shall again render free legal services to the public through its Legal Clinics.
Two sessions shall run at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central on Saturday, January 6 and Saturday, January 13 during mall hours.
Meanwhile, on Monday, January 22, the Legal Clinic shall be at the Bacolod City New Government Center (NGC) during office hours, in partnership with the local government unit.
Potential clients are invited to come and bring any documents or files that may serve as the foundation of their legal rights. However, cases may also be assessed via recital of facts for later verification and further action.
The law student practitioners have a certification from the Regional Trial Court of Bacolod City to render limited legal services, which also covers the City of Talisay and the Municipalities of Murcia and Salvador Benedicto. Supervising lawyers will also be around to ensure that cases are handled appropriately.
The CLEP is an innovation of the Philippine Supreme Court to ensure that law students are exposed to the realities on the ground and to promote public service by the law schools and access to social justice for the ordinary, everyday Filipino.*
