Local labor leader Wennie Sancho blamed the 70 lawmakers, whom he tagged as “legistraitors”, for the “terrible labor oppression” of the 11,000 ABS-CBN workers.

The 70 “legistraitors” who junked the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN shall never be forgotten by the working class, Sancho, secretary-general of General Alliance of Workers Association, claimed.

“It is a treachery to the cause of the workers because the employees of ABS-CBN were humiliated, oppressed, and impoverished as a result of the franchise denial,” he said.

It was reported earlier that 81 personnel of ABS-CBN Bacolod were among the retrenched workers of the network, and will be left jobless come September.

Meanwhile, various activities will be held today in solidarity with the network workers.

The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines-Bacolod chapter will hold a Solidarity Rally at ABS-CBN Bacolod premises at 5 this afternoon.

The Diocese of Bacolod will have a “Rosary for Democracy” at the Bishop’s House at 5:30 p.m., and concerned citizens will hold a noise barrage and motorcade at 6 p.m. They will assemble at the Provincial Lagoon.*
