Cases of leptospirosis continue to increase in Bacolod City, while dengue cases continue declining, as of August 12.
The Bacolod City Health Office recorded a total of 61 suspected cases of leptospirosis, with nine deaths.
Eight of the nine victims were male and one was a female from Barangay 14. The rest were from Brgys. Taculing, Banago, Handumanan, Villamonte, Bata, Pahanocoy, Granada, and Singcang.
The total number of cases is 238.9 percent higher than the reported cases last year at 18, 4 of whom expired.
Meanwhile, the total reported cases of dengue in Bacolod City is currently 292, with three deaths involving two females from Villamonte and Tangub, and one male from Mansilingan.
That figure is 54.4 percent higher than the total number of cases last year.
The barangays with clustering of cases, from July 22 to August 12, include Taculing, Mansilingan, Singcang, and Estefania.*
