ACT-CIS partylist Representative Erwin Tulfo yesterday said that it is up to the voters to decide if they will allow him and his brother, broadcaster Ben Tulfo, to join the other siblings in the Philippine Senate, amidst the tag of starting a political dynasty.
Another Tulfo sibling, Raffy, is an incumbent senator.
Tulfo, who was in Victorias City yesterday to meet with Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez and other 3rd district local government officials and candidates for the midterm elections, said that people have the power to speak, change the country, and to do something right, every three years.
Based on the OCTA Research senatorial preference survey for the last quarter of 2024, brothers Erwin and Ben Tulfo, along with former Senate president Vicente “Tito” Sotto III have maintained their lead.
Erwin, a former secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, noted that the existence of political dynasties will continue as long as there is no law prohibiting it.
“Nasa voters yan (it is up to the voters), if they like the three Tulfo brothers,” the solon said.
In his speech at the gathering of Negros Occidental 3rd district officials in Victorias City, he thanked the support and trust of Benitez, who is a congressional candidate of the district, and his father, Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez.
“I will not fail you Sir, because you trusted me, and keep on trusting us. We will deliver,” he told the younger Benitez.
Erwin, a House deputy majority leader, said he will not make promises of heaven and earth to the Filipinos, if he is fortunate to get elected to the Senate.
As a senator, I cannot promise to change this country overnight. But what I can promise you, is that I will serve each and every Filipinos, particularly the people of Negros, who trusted him, he stressed.
Mayor Javi Benitez asked the solon to help Negros Island Region if he gets elected into the Senate.
“As the Tulfo siblings, we do not promise, we just deliver,” Erwin said.
I may not be able to change and help the lives of everybody. But knowing that I can change someone’s life everyday, it makes a lot of difference to the people I help everyday, he stressed.*
