LGU worker among 18 nabbed, P1.8M shabu seized

A series of anti-drug operations of the police in Negros Occidental on March 10 and 11, led to the apprehension of a job order worker in a local government unit and 17 other drug suspects, also leading to the confiscation of suspected shabu valued at P1,810,000 and two unlicensed firearms.

The confiscation of suspected shabu, with a market value of P680,000, was made by the police on Monday in E.B. Magalona, following the arrest of an alias Ed at GK Village in Barangay Gahit of the town.

The arrest also yielded a caliber .38 revolver with three ammunition, according to a report of the E.B. Magalona Police Station.

Three other drug suspects, including a job order worker of the Silay City government Civil Security Unit, were collared by the police on March 10 in Brgys. 5 and Mambulac in Silay City, which yielded about 16 grams of suspected shabu valued at P108,800.

The apprehension of the job order employee identified only as Ren, 31, yielded a caliber .38 revolver with five ammunition and a Yamaha Mio 125 motorcycle.

Two female drug suspects were arrested by the police for violation of RA 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002, at Purok 9, Barangay Poblacion 1 in Sagay City.

The apprehension of alias Amanda, 20, and alias Liza, 46, yielded about 63 grams of suspected shabu valued at P428,400, assorted shabu paraphernalia, and P1,000 in marked money.

Another drug suspect, a certain Jomar, a tricycle driver, was also nabbed by the police for a similar offense in the same barangay. His apprehension yielded two grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P13,600.

The police also recovered more or less 50 grams of suspected shabu, with a market value of P340,000 from a certain Patrick on Tuesday at Sunrise Village in Barangay Blumentritt, Murcia.

Two more drug suspects, with aliases of Borge and JanJan, were nabbed by the police on March 10 at Purok 6 in Barangay Talubangi, Kabankalan City. Their apprehensions yielded 16 grams of suspected shabu valued at P108,000, and a Honda Wave 125 motorcycle.

Six more drug suspects were accounted for by the police in Hinigaran, Hinobaan, Toboso, and the cities of Escalante and Talisay. Those arrests yielded an estimated P147,720 worth of illegal drugs, according to reports of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.*
