A laborer was killed after he was struck by a lightning while inside his residence at around 2 p.m. on Sunday at Sitio Unob, Barangay Anahaw, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.
The victim was identified as 52-year-old laborer Rodolfo Bermejo, who was killed while sitting inside his home.
The Hinigaran Municipal Police Station said that based on the statement of Bermejo’s wife, his husband was seated at their bamboo terrace when heavy rain occurred and lightning struck at their terrace.
During the incident, the victim was leaning on the mesh wire enclosing the terrace and he was electrocuted and fell to the ground.
After the incident, the immediate family rushed the victim to Hinigaran Medical Clinic but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
The cadaver was then brought to Soledad Funeral Homes, located in the Municipality of Binalbagan.
The wife of the victim personally appeared to the police station to report the incident.*
