The Municipality of Calatrava concluded its month-long Centennial fiesta celebration with the Lilas Pandan Festival street dance and showdance competition held at the Calatrava Evacuation Center in Calatrava town, Negros Occidental, Saturday.
Six clustered Barangays participated in the competition, and the winners were: Tribu Nagkahiusang Kabatan-onan sa Lumad Dos, contingent No.6, composed of Barangays Lo-ok, San Isidro, Patun-an, Tigbon, Bantayanon, and Malanog which was declared this year’s over-all champion.
They received a championship trophy and P50,000 in cash prize. It also bagged all the special awards, including Best in Street Dancing, Best in Showdown, Best in Choreography, Best in Costume, and Best in Andas.
Tribu Fuerza Siete, contingent No. 3 composed of Barangays Minapasuk, Marcelo, Minautok, Cambayobo, Hinab ongan, Hilub-ang, and Winaswasan was second place, and received a runner-up trophy and P30,000 in cash prize.
Tribu Pundok Lumad Magbabanig Balangay Mapilao-Mapaglao, contingent No.1 composed of Barangays Tigbao, Mahilum, Macasilao, Malatas, Pinocutan, Paghumayan, and Telim was third place, and received P15,000 in cash prize and trophy.
Charlie Ratcliff, was declared this year’s Lilas Pandan Festival Queen.
Present during the event were Calatrava Mayor Marilyn Era and SB committee chairman on Culture and Tourism Kylie Isaias.
A grand fireworks display lit the sky just before Saturday midnight to cap the Centennial Lilas Pandan Festivities.*
