Limited edition MassKCAREra Cynefin collection unveiled

The Bacolod Yuhum Foundation together with Mangkas Apparel unveils the Limited MassKCAREra Sapphire Merchandise Edition featuring the Cynefin Collection shirts specially designed to raise awareness for the critically endangered and threatened wildlife species endemic to Negros Occidental and Panay, a press release from BYF said.

Mangkas Apparel is the official merchandise provider of the MassKara Festival 2024.

“Cynefin” is a Welsh word meaning “habitat,” “haunt,” “acquainted” or “familiar.”

It is also described as a place where a person or an animal feels it ought to live and belong.

“The shirts are already on sale and offered for purchase. Mangkas is mass producing them now and this will be available for the duration of the MassKara Festival,” said Kuster Cadagat, secretary and festival director for Cultural and Accredited Events.

With every shirt purchase, the collection aims to imprint cultural celebration, environmental consciousness, and a reminder of the importance of protecting Mother Nature’s treasures.

The limited edition MassKCAREra Cynefin collection will be available at the official store of Mangkas Apparel Official at 888 Bacolod and in different pop-up stores and booths located at Robinsons Place Bacolod and Ayala Malls Capitol Central by the first week of October, Lacson Tourism Strip (Display Booth), Bacolod City Government Center and the Public Plaza (Display Booth).

The shirts will also be on display at partner locations: Bong Bongs Pasalubong (5 branches), Merzci Pasalubong (3 branches), Seda Hotel, Acacia Hotel, and Gina’s Seafood and Restaurant.

Shirt prices start from P440 to P550, depending on the size. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to support the Philippine Biodiversity Conservation Foundation Inc.

MASSKARA LOGO

The MassKara logo was conceptualized by Kuster Cadagat and the logo artist is Myish Endonilla.

Cadagat said that while they are open to share their work, they are also requesting fair compensation from those who want to use it.

“We value creativity and collaboration. Our goal is not to withhold the artwork, but to ensure that its usage helps us sustain our operations, including paying our staff and continuing to create high-quality work,” expressed Cadagat, relaying that the Foundation acknowledges the importance of supporting creative talent and “ensuring that the people behind the work are recognized and compensated fairly.”*
