Two more public schools in Brgy. Alangilan, Bacolod City are being considered for the implementation of limited face to face classes following the successful launch of the program yesterday at the Alangilan National High School.
The was disclosed by Dr. Cris Sorongon, Emergency Operations Center-Task Force deputy for medical and data analysis yesterday as he congratulated the school’s faculty members and officials of Alangilan for being well prepared.
Sorongon said all the faculty and students of the Alangilan National High School are fully vaccinated and classes are being conducted in two batches every day with a maximum of 20 students per batch.
EOC-TF executive director Em Ang said the implementation of the pilot run will be the basis for the expansion of the limited face to face classes to other schools in the city.
Sorongon also expressed optimism that Bacolod will attain herd immunity before Christmas eve or before the end of the year.
About 84 percent of the city’s population have already received at least a single dose of the COVID vaccine while 66 percent are fully vaccinated, he said.
Bacolod has inoculated about 70,752 vaccinees way above the 66,171 target during the 3-day “Bayanihan Bakunahan” campaign last November 29, 30 and December 1, Sorongon said.
They expect to fully vaccinate 90 to 95 percent of the population after the second part of the “Bayanihan Bakunahan” set on December 15 to 17 to include 70,752 who are scheduled to receive their second dose. Only 13 percent are not vaccinated, he said.
Sorongon said that as of yesterday, Bacolod has recorded zero deaths. They also saw a decline in mortality rate from October and November and that they are hoping Bacolod will be able to remain in Alert Level 2 or be placed under Alert Level 1 in 2022.
Hospitalization rate in Bacolod is between 19 to 20 percent and most admission are non-COVID cases. They are also monitoring pediatric admissions, he said.*
