A lineman of Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (NONECO) died after he was electrocuted while working on an electric pole along the national road in Sitio Bug-as, Barangay Balintawak, Escalante City, Negros Occidental at around 9:45 a.m. on Saturday.
The victim was identified as alias “Orly” of legal age and a resident of Victorias City.
Initial investigation by the Escalante Component City Police Station revealed that a concerned citizen informed the authorities that there is an alleged electrocution incident involving a male individual at an electric post in the area.
Upon arrival of the police, they discovered a man lifeless, still on the electric pole.
The victim was in the process of installing suspension equipment on a post near a convenience store which was under construction. While working at the top of the post, the victim was accidentally electrocuted, police said.
The authorities pulled down the victim and immediately brought him to the nearest hospital where he was declared dead upon arrival.
The cadaver of the victim was at the morgue of the hospital pending post mortem examination.*
