Linked to ambush on cops, ex-rebel nabbed in Himamaylan

A former member of the New People’s Army who has been linked to the ambush of Binalbagan policemen in 2022, is locked up in jail after his recent arrest in Barangay Talaban, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.

Nabbed by the police was alias Jim, a resident of Brgy. Bi-ao, Binalbagan.

A former member of the Sentro De Grabidad Platoon of the Komiteng Rehiyonal – Negros/Cebu/Bohol/Siquijor Central Negros 2, alias Jim faces charges for frustrated murder, with a bail bond of P200,000, as recommended by the Himamaylan Regional Trial Court Branch 55.

The NPA claimed responsibility for an ambush of police forces on February 21, 2022, along the highway of Sitio Candida in Brgy. Bi-ao, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.

Two of the 10 Binalbagan policemen were wounded in the ambush, as they were responding to an incident where a man was found dead in the barangay.*
