The Association of Negros Producers, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, led the opening of the ‘Bulawan’ Trade Fair along with three local award programs in line with the upcoming 40th Negros Trade Fair, at SM City Bacolod yesterday.
The event marks the simultaneous commencement of the 33rd Bulawan Design Awards, the 4th Pilak Awards, and the 3rd Balik Salig Awards.
It features 40 local exhibitors under the theme ‘Sibol,’ which will run until Sunday, May 31.
2026 Negros Trade Fair Chairperson Mary Ann Colmenares said the event serves as a prelude to the Negros Trade Fair scheduled for September 22, in SM Aura Premier, Taguig City.
The Bulawan Design Awards and Innovative Food Competition focuses on excellence in local design and food products, while the 4th Pilak Awards recognizes exemplary local goods.
The Pilak competition features 40 entries across eight categories, supported by the Provincial Technological Livelihood Development Center, which assists local businesses in utilizing raw materials native to their localities.
Meanwhile, the 3rd Balik Salig Awards, organized in partnership with the 303rd Infantry Brigade, recognizes products of former rebels and partner communities under the Peace and Order Council who have transitioned to sustainable livelihoods.
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said the micro, small, and medium enterprises remain among the strongest drivers of economic growth and countryside development in the province.
He noted that beyond providing livelihood and employment opportunities, local enterprises serve to preserve the traditions, stories, and heritage of Negrense communities.*
